Indian Squad Analysis - India Tour of Sri Lanka

This will be the first time in which Team India will go for such a long tour to any nation after the Series vs Australia in 2016. It will be a very important tour for Virat Kohli, who will be leading his side in 3 Test Matches, 5 ODIs and 1 T20I. The Test Squad for the Sri Lanka Tour was announced a few days back.

Here is the Squad:

The batting department looks spot on, especially after the return of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. Abhinav Mukund has been given a chance as well, who has just played 5 Test Matches for India till date. Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara have proven themselves multiple times in this format of the game, once they settle down, they always will put up a big score on the cards. Not sure whether Rahane will get a chance in the Playing 11 after the come-back of the in-form Rohit Sharma. Wriddhman Saha, the wicket-keeper batsman who has been doing well for India over the years after M.S. Dhoni's retirement from Test Cricket, will provide strength to the lower-middle order. The skipper, Virat Kohli is too good to be talked about.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace bowling attack. The selectors have given Mohammed Shami a chance, who was selected for the Champions Trophy and the Windies Tour as well, even though he did not get many games to play. Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma are the other two pace bowlers. The Spin Twins - Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin, who are currently ranked as World Number 1 and World Number 2 respectively in Test Cricket, will be supported by the youngster, who has performed well whenever he has been given a chance, Kuldeep Yadav. Hardik Pandya will be the one pace-bowling all rounder for India.

Shall be an exciting series!

Cheers,
Sparsh

  1. Good analysis.
Jadeja needs a break only then he will perform better... Same goes with Ashwin

  2. My opinion is different, these both, even though were not at their best at the ODI level, I feel that they will be performing well in Test Cricket! They will get good conditions to bowl in Sri Lanka.
    Cheers!
