India vs Sri Lanka 4th ODI Preview: India look to test the bench after a series win

With the series in hand, the men in blue will look to experiment their team in the remaining two ODIs. However, all eyes will be on MS Dhoni, who will be joining the "Elite 300" club, which has Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh.

Now, with the 4th ODI of the series to be played on Thursday, the focus is on two landmarks that the veteran is closing in on - 100 stumpings in ODIs and 73 not out innings in the same format, which will both be world records.

Unbeaten knocks of 45 and 67 in the previous two games has proved that he hasn't finished yet and his eyes are firmly set on the World Cup 2019.

After sealing the series 3-0, Virat Kohli would like to give a chance to the players who have been in the bench for the past 3 games. We might see the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey and Ajinkya Rahane out in the middle at Colombo.

The skipper himself has had a couple of low-scoring games and he would look to get back to scoring some more runs along with KL Rahul, who has not looked that comfortable batting at number 4.

Now with only two games left, Sri Lanka will need to win both the games for direct qualification in the World Cup 2019.

While India have some happy problems to deal with, Sri Lanka are in deep trouble.

To begin with, the selection committee which was lead by Sanath Jayasuriya has resigned and Sri Lanka Cricket has accepted their resignations. However, they will hold the office till the end of the series.

One of the most experienced player and batsman for Sri Lanka - Dinesh Chandimal has been ruled out of the series with a hairline fracture in his right thumb.
To add to their headache, the stand in skipper, Kapugedera has been ruled out for the remainder of the series as well due to a back injury.

Lasith Mallinga will lead Sri Lanka in the 4th ODI tomorrow at Colombo, with suspended captain Upul Tharanga expected to come back and handle the reins for the final game as well as the one off T20I on September 6.

Cheers,
Sparsh
