India vs Sri Lanka T20I Report: Chase Master delivers yet again

India complete a whitewash in all three formats of the game after they bet Sri Lanka with a great performance in the one-off T20I.

Put in to bat first, Sri Lanka lost their skipper Upul Tharanga early in the game for just 5 runs. who was bowled off a beauty from Bhuvneshwar. Niroshan Dickwella, who had come to open alongside the skipper, smashed consecutive boundaries before he threw his wicket away to Bumrah. However, the hosts fought back through Dilshan Munaweera. Munaweera's innings was a treat to the eyes, who played classy shots, targeting the Indian spinners. Unluckily, he found no real support from the other end.

Angelo Matthews was beaten by Chahal's leg break, after which MS Dhoni, at lightning speed dislodged the bails off the stumps. Matthews certainly had no idea of what had happened out there before the third out umpire made his decision - Out! The pressure on Munaweera increased when debutant Ashan Priyanjan took a lot of balls to settle down.

After some time, Munaweera too got out in an unfamiliar fashion - his bat slipped from his hands to a short pitch delivery from Kuldeep, which hit the top of the stumps.

Thisara Perera once again disappointed with the bat. He attempted a shot on every delivery before Yuzvendra Chahal got rid of him. 3 balls later, Chahal also got Dasun Shanaka to leave the hosts under pressure. But Priyanjan and Prassana's intelligent innings and calculated hitting towards the end lifted Sri Lanka to 170 from their 20 over quota. Chahal was the pick of the bowlers, who was a little expensive but completed his 3 for.

Chasing 171, KL Rahul got India off to a fine start but from the other end, veteran Lasith Mallinga got his Mumbai Indians skipper - Rohit Sharma out cheaply. Rahul's short cameo came to an end when Dasun Shanaka pulled a stunner at short cover.

But Virat Kohli, as usual, guided the run chase from there on. He took calculated risks and rotated the strike pretty well, who was supported by Manish Pandey from the other end. Kohli's innings of 82 helped India to complete yet run chase in T20Is.

After a match winning 82, Kohli also became the fasted to surpass 15,000 runs in International Cricket.

Team India will return home after completing a 9-0 tour whitewash over the Lankans,

Cheers,
Sparsh
