India vs Sri Lanka T20I Preview: Team India look to return unbeaten

After whitewashing Sri Lanka in the Test and ODI Series, Team India will look to complete a tour whitewash by winning the T20I as well.

The one off T20I will be played in Colombo where the Kohli led Team India will look to complete a tour whitewash, whereas the hosts will be looking for a victory, which seems like a miracle as of now, considering the dominating form Team India is in.

But the shortest format of the game has always been unpredictable as we have seen matches being decided on the last ball. For India, Rohit and Dhawan will return to the opening positions, followed by the skipper Kohli at number 3. The middle order battle will continue for the 2 spots between Rahul, Pandey and Kedar.

Ideally, we will see Rahul at 4, MS Dhoni at 5 and Kedar at 6, but seeing Rahul's poor form and Pandey stepping up with a couple of good knocks, we cannot make any conclusions.
Hardik Pandya will bat at number 7, where he will provide strength to the lower middle order and will play the finisher role for his team.

The spin department might be a headache with Axar Patel doing a fine job in the ODIs. But, considering Virat Kohli and his attacking style of play, we might see two leg spinners in Kuldeep and Chahal.

Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will make up the fast bowling, who will play a vital role in taking early wickets as well as producing lethal yorkers, slower balls and cutters toward the death overs.

Sri Lanka will be lead by Upul Tharanga in the only T20I to be played In Colombo on 6th September. There were a few changes made from the ODI squad.

Leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and Dasun Shanaka have been called to the team along with Akila Dananjaya. The Lankans have omitted Kusal Mendis, Vishwa Fernando & Dushmantha Chameera for the T20I with veteran Lasith Mallinga leading the pace bowling attack, alongside a returning Suranga Lakmal.

Sri Lanka batting unit lacks fire power but they can prove to be vital for any side on their day. For this to happen, Niroshan Dickwella, Dilshan Munaweera and their skipper Upul Tharanga will have to take up responsibility upon their shoulders and string in partnerships.
On the whole, we have to wait and watch whether India goes home undefeated or not.

Cheers,
Sparsh
