India vs Sri Lanka ODI Squad Analysis: Kohli rested, Rohit made skipper

Virat Kohli has been rested for the three ODI games against Sri Lanka starting from December 10, as announced by BCCI on November 27, however, he will captain India for the third and the final test of the ongoing test series.
Virat Kohli, who had recently spoken about India's workload management, is the only Indian player to have played more than 100 International matches across all formats since January 2015. Virat has played 113 matches in the said period while MS Dhoni has played 92.
Hardik Pandya, who was rested for the test matches, is a part of the ODI squad, which also features a new comer in 27 year old, Punjab medium pace bowler - Siddharth Kaul. Kaul was a part of the U-19 world cup winning side, that won the title under Virat's captaincy in 2008.
Ashwin & Jadeja, yet again miss out on the limited over selection as the MSK Prasad led selection panel continue with the trio of - Chahal, Kuldeep and Axar. Also missing out from the squad was Shardul Thakur, who was selected for the New Zealand ODI series and has been replaced by his fellow Mumbai team-mate Shreyas Iyer for the 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka. KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav & M. Shami aren't a part of the ODI set-up too.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan returned to the squad for the 3rd Test against Sri Lanka starting from December 2 in Delhi. He is the only addition to the squad who had defeated the visitors by an innings and 239 runs. Vijay Shankar was retained for the final test, as was Shami, who had missed out on the 2nd test due to a minor injury.
