Royal Challengers Bangalore - Squad Analysis

The most beloved team in the IPL, with a wide range of fan following all over the world. A franchisee consisting of the best international players in the world, but unfortunately, has never been able to win the title so far. The Royal Challengers from Bangalore will be looking to turn things around this time and win the IPL for the first time in 11 years.

Nathan Coulter-Nile has been replaced by Corey Anderson

I don't need to say where does their strength lie, we all know it. Yet again, they have the best batsmen amongst all the franchisees participating in the tournament. Brendon McCullum, Parthiv Patel, Manan Vohra and Quinton de Kock. Well, those were just the openers present in the squad. Adding to the list, they have King Kohli, the Superman from South Africa, Sarfaraz Khan and loads and loads of overseas all-rounders. Plus, the Chinnaswamy stadium will favor all of these batsmen, as all of these love to go big and score runs in boundaries.

Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg spinner who has proven himself in the past, and Washington Sundar, the 18 year old off-break bowler who bowled under an economy of 6, in the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka, will be giving their captain 8 quality overs from them.

Weaknesses? They do have a decent bowling attack as well, however, they lack death bowling. They do have Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj, but they aren't those reliable bowlers and have high economy rates. They also lack finishers. RCB have Sarfaraz Khan with them, however, he is just 20 years old and he is not somebody whom you can completely rely on.

Where does RCB end this season? Can they lift the trophy for the first time? Well, that will completely depend on the form of Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers this time as well. If those two got going, like they did in 2016, nobody can stop RCB from winning the title. And considering the form with which those two will be entering into the IPL, it may be RCB's season this time...

Here is my Playing XI from the squad:

1. Brendon McCullum
2. Parthiv Patel (WK)
3. Virat Kohli (Captain)
4. AB De Villiers
5. Sarfaraz Khan
6. Colin de Grandhome
7. Chris Woakes
8. Washington Sundar
9. Umesh Yadav
10. Yuzvendra Chahal
11. Mohammad Siraj

In case Brendon McCullum goes out of form, they can always replace him with Quinton de Kock, which is a huge advantage for RCB. Now, many people may ask that why cannot you open with Brendon & Quinton. Well, they can open with those two, but then you would need to take out Colin de Grandhomme, which would disturb the balance of the side.

Cheers,
Sparsh
